Much like bad weather tore through the northern region the previous evening, Manchester City blew United aside at the Etihad Stadium. It was a statement 3-0 triumph for their manager's side due to goals from Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Hemp. It was a result that clearly signaled their championship potential as they strengthened their standing at the league summit.

Consecutive Defeats for Manchester United

This result signalled back-to-back league setbacks for Marc Skinner’s side for the first time since May 2024, placing them seven points off the league leaders with their title hopes severely dented.

The Red Devils' capacity to balance league and continental football with a thin squad has been a widely debated subject since they secured entry to the Champions League. Considering the schedule, it always felt like this was the matchday that would fully examine this capability. Regrettably for the away side, they appeared weary from start to finish, the landmark win against PSG clearly having left its mark.

Lineup Adjustments

Skinner had sought to make changes with a several adjustments. Toone, Elisabeth Terland, Dominique Janssen and Galton all provided energy, although the omission of the on-form Malard to the substitutes was questioned.
