In a surprising crossover event that defies traditional predictions, the game developer has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering free additional story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Mission Disclosed

According to the formal statement, "An unusual confrontation draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where rumors of forbidden ceremonies and terrifying changes resonate through the shadows." The storyline features a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a clandestine group.

The mission centers on "bizarre tests and a terrifying enemy" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Transformations

The trailer highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer concludes with a powerful scene showing a character, probably the captive, changing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Bonus Features

Players who accomplish the quest will acquire an exclusive katana together with multiple artifacts secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-based attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Unique weapons
• Survey Corps mount

Third Free Story Update

This patch also adds the game's newest free story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic abilities: Naoe reveals a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a new environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

The series formerly showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
