A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

The assault caused the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, two women had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was one of the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been released.

Officers arrested a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of individuals injured by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
